🌿 A Day in the Life at Skyhawk Hill Homestead 🌿

Nestled on 8 acres in the picturesque Monterey Bay area, Skyhawk Hill Homestead thrives on the rhythm of daily life connected to the land and its creatures. Every morning and evening, we tend to our furry, fluffy and feathered friends —cats, dogs, sheep, horses, and chickens—ensuring they are well-fed and cared for. Our vegetable and fruit gardens, lovingly maintained each day, provide us with fresh produce, nurtured from seed to harvest.

We practice sustainability in many ways, such as using animal manure as natural fertilizer, enriching our soil, and closing the loop in our food system. We're also dedicated to small-scale carbon and water sequestration, actively working to improve our environmental impact. Importantly, we never use chemicals on our land for any purpose, and we strive to keep a small footprint by repurposing and recycling materials rather than buying new items.

Our homestead is a living, breathing classroom. As I homeschool my 10-year-old son, we embrace a lifestyle of learning and creativity, cooking meals from scratch and engaging in hands-on activities that teach old-world homesteading skills. We're excited to welcome WWOOFers to join us, offering them the opportunity to experience rural living, learn organic farming techniques, and contribute to our community in exchange for food and lodging.

Throughout the year, we hold workshops and host gatherings that focus on food preservation, gardening, and permaculture practices. These events are designed to share knowledge, empower others to live sustainably, and cultivate a deeper connection with the earth. At Skyhawk Hill, we believe in the power of community, education, and creativity to create a better future for all. 🌱
